We’ve just imple­mented a new cus­tom web­site design for Hoff­mann Machine Com­pany, the North Amer­i­can dis­trib­u­tor of Hoff­mann GmbH, a Ger­man com­pany ded­i­cated to the devel­op­ment, design and man­u­fac­ture of high-​quality wood­work­ing machines.

The new look fea­tures a fresh clean design and restruc­tured nav­i­ga­tion menus to sim­plify find­ing prod­ucts. The home page of the web­site intro­duces the com­pany pro­vides easy nav­i­ga­tion to all prod­uct cat­e­gories through a hor­i­zon­tal nav­i­ga­tion menu. Select links to tuto­ri­als on using Hoff­mann prod­ucts are fea­tured in the lower body of the page. Sec­ondary nav­i­ga­tion and con­tact infor­ma­tion has been placed in the footer of all pages for easy access through­out the site.

An extended cat­e­gory menu is shown on the left when brows­ing prod­ucts to help the user visu­al­ize their loca­tion in the site and make mov­ing between prod­ucts and cat­e­gories eas­ier. Over­all, this restruc­tur­ing of prod­uct cat­e­gories and nav­i­ga­tion has reduced the num­ber of mouse clicks required to access some prod­ucts by as much as 30%.

In con­junc­tion with the design of NORELL Inc.‘s 2011 Price List Cat­a­log, we have devel­oped and launched their new web­site. Their suc­cess­ful use of fresh, bright col­ors and graph­ics in their prod­uct pack­ag­ing and print col­lat­eral has been incor­po­rated into the new design.

The project involved merg­ing two sites under sep­a­rate domains into one. Web­site nav­i­ga­tion was care­fully arranged to make find­ing infor­ma­tion easy while lim­ited use of inter­ac­tive ele­ments are used to keep things inter­est­ing. In addi­tion, spe­cial atten­tion was paid to main­tain­ing the excel­lent search engine rank­ings already achieved by their pre­vi­ous sites.
